Participation requires the purchase of a regular Gamevasion powered by DreamHack ticket and the participant must be of legal age. All information provided by participants during registration must also be truthful. This applies in particular with regard to personal details.
We reserve the right to exclude participants from the competition for valid reasons at our own discretion. Valid reasons include, but are not limited to:
- Violations of the rules and conditions of participation of the competition or the general rules for cosplays
- Manipulation of the competition's conduct
- Improper behavior
- False or misleading statements in relation to the competition
A transfer to others, refund or cash payment of a prize is not possible.
We reserve the right to award another prize of equal or greater value at our sole discretion. The value of the prize is at our sole and absolute discretion.
We are not liable for damages that may arise due to errors, delays or interruptions in transmission, malfunctions of the technical equipment and service, incorrect content, loss or deletion of data, viruses or in any other way during participation, unless such damages are caused by us or our vicarious agents intentionally, grossly negligently or by breach of essential contractual obligations (those whose fulfillment characterizes the contract and on which the participants may rely). Liability for damages caused by negligence is limited to the amount of damages foreseeable and typical for the contract at the time the contract was concluded.
This exclusion or limitation of liability does not apply to damages resulting from injury to life, body or health.
We reserve the right to cancel or terminate the competition at any time without prior notice and without giving reasons if, for technical reasons (e.g. viruses in the computer system, manipulation or errors in the hardware and/or software) or for legal reasons or for other reasons, proper implementation of the campaign cannot (or can no longer) be guaranteed.
Personal data of all participants will only be used for the purpose of running and administering the competition. We use the personal data to administer participation in the competition. By registering for the competition, participants agree that we may use the personal data provided by the participants for the competition. Further information on the rights and obligations in connection with data protection can be found here.
All legal recourse is excluded.
Should any provision of these Terms and Conditions of Participation be or become invalid in whole or in part, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions of Participation. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a legally permissible provision that comes as close as possible to the economic meaning and purpose of the invalid provision. The same applies in the event of a loophole in these conditions of participation.
Conduct
The competition takes place on the main stage and includes a cosplay catwalk show. Each cosplayer will have a time frame of about 30-60 seconds to present their cosplay and pose for photos.
We will present all participants with music that we choose to bring the characters to life. After all participants have presented themselves, we will invite everyone back on stage and finally the judges will announce the winners on stage!

Rating
Our Gamevasion powered by DreamHack jury team will evaluate costume, techniques used and stage performance.
On the day of the event, there will be a pre-judging session where the judges we have selected will come and check the participants' costumes one by one, go through the reference images and ask the participants about the techniques they have used and look at the costumes in detail.
The following criteria apply to the special categories:
IRL COSPLAY: Only the stage show will be judged.
BEST PROP: For this category, a single prop from a cosplay is selected according to its design and technical realization.
THE NEWCOMER: The winner will be chosen from the participants taking part in a competition for the first time. All of the above criteria apply.
JUDGE FAVORIT: This category has no specific winning criteria and is awarded according to the jury's personal preferences.
Costume and cosplay rules
We have a set of general cosplay rules to ensure that we all work to showcase the kind of cosplayers who want to make their own costumes and show the world what they're made of! Due to some restrictions, we ask that you read all of the rules below, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@gamevasion.de.
- Costumes should be made exclusively by the participants themselves. Pre-made pieces may be used, but original work is preferred and favored by the judges. We allow some help from friends and family, but we assume that at least 80% of the work on the costume is the cosplayer's own work. If in doubt, please contact us.
- Costumes will be approved by the cosplay team and you will be notified upon receipt of the registration form!
- The costume must be based on computer games, video games, anime, manga, comic books or entertainment franchises. Unfortunately, original designs are currently not eligible for consideration in the competition categories. The design must be based on an officially published work.
- You must be able to wear all of your props on stage and carry them with you during the show.
- We allow cosplays from any media, video games, role-playing games, comic books, manga, anime, TV or movie adaptations, fan art, etc. We also allow gender bends, gijinkas and original characters (e.g. DnD characters, or your character from a game). It is important to note that you should also bring reference materials for your design.
Catwalk rules
The competition will be a catwalk show featuring your greatest creation.
- The time you have on stage is about 30-60 seconds or less if you prefer so.
- The catwalk performance will also factor into the judging of your cosplay, so remember to be in character!
- The stage order is the same as the judges' pre-judging.
